A Whole New Meaning

Many people want to be heard

However nobody is willing to wait their turn

Sometimes the people who are supposed to mean the most

Use and abuse you like over-cooked toast

Finding someone that you can trust

Nowadays seem like a must

But how can anyone gain that trust, if the most important person stabs you in the back

How else do you expect one to act

Time after time you try to see who you can confide in

But people today don’t know the true definition of a friend

What happened to keeping things amongst each other

Or that person who you knew blood didn’t need say you were sister or brother

What happened to the days when loyalty mattered

When you didn’t stick around just because you felt flattered

Or what about making memories that will never be forgotten

But considering the friendships today, things just are rotten

What happened to encouraging one another

You know, the time when everyone grew together

Friends considered each other feelings and the friend code was used

But I guess nowadays people are just used like a tool

Well I’m tired of playing my part

And others continue to shoot and aim that dart

When they shoot I know they get pretty close to the heart

Then all over again, I have to set out and restart

The saying is people change but memories don’t

But it’s hard trying to build a friendship with people who won’t,

Consider anything else but themselves

And have their own motives that they want to prevail

So I say again, many people want to be heard

However nobody is willing to wait their turn

Sometimes the people who are supposed to mean the most

Use and abuse you like over-cooked toast

My question to you is are you willing to be that friend

That will stick through thick and thin?
